Gar-Field High School Vex Scrimmage
January 20, 2007
On January 20, 2007, Gar-Field High School was kind enough to host a scrimmage which provided teams from Northern Virginia and surrounding areas the opportunity to compete against other teams. The event followed all the rules of "Hangin'-A-Round" game, as specified by FIRST. The game was played on a field that a friend of mine and I constructed to meet the official specifications. The scrimmage was a wonderful opportunity for the teams to interact with each other and continue to learn. It also provided an opportunity for teams to practice in preparation for other official Vex competitions.
During the scrimmage, I invited all the teams to have their robots photographed from all angles (36 photos per robot, in 10 degree increments). I then took all the pictures and created animated GIF images for each robot. A few weeks after the event, I distributed a copy of all the images to each team so they could have a memento of the event. Below, you will find the results. If you click on the images below, you will see an animated GIF of each robot. Note that in some cases, a particular team competed with several robots. If they were officialy registered with FIRST, we added a letter to their team number. In other cases, the teams were not yet registered with FIRST. In those cases, we made up a team numbers using the school's name.
